Isaiah Chapter 34

  • Isaiah 34:1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
  • 2 For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
  • 3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

Here the prophecy is a warning to the whole world, to all nations. The armies that gather against the nation of Israel will be consumed at the coming of the Lord. Lest any find fault with God here, I remind us all that God sends His prophets, preachers and teachers first to warn. He always makes a way for repentance and change. He loves us all and does not want to destroy. He prefers to save, heal and deliver. When we refuse to hear, take heed and listen, judgment comes. Why? He cannot allow evil to continue forever. He cannot allow the innocent to be swallowed up forever. He cannot allow murder, rape, persecution and death to continue forever. Sin has to be judged.

He made a way for all both small and great to be delivered from sin and escape the coming judgment. Many even today are laughing and scoffing at this message. Their hearts are hard. Their ears are dull of hearing and their eyes are made dim. This does not have to be. Open your eyes and behold the wonderful things contained in the law of the Lord: Salvation, healing, eternal life. Physical death is not the final end. There is more. We have to choose where we spend eternity. We don't have to pay for our own sins if we accept the atonement God has provided to pay for our sins.

The judgment mentioned here are for those who refuse. It is for those who prey on the innocent and shed innocent blood. This is going on here in America. What is abortion but the slaying of the innocent? There isnít anyone more innocent than a baby that hasn't even been born into the world and had a chance to sin. Even now in some states unwanted babies born into the world can be left to die without giving them milk and care to survive. I found out just yesterday that Roe v Wade was not about helping mothers who found themselves in a bad situation but it was about harvesting organs and using aborted fetal cells for vaccines. They didn't want to keep having to get them from Sweden. This is not made public yet but the readers will have to do their own research to find out the truth of that statement.  I know for sure they harvest organs and use cells for vaccines but I didn't know it was going on since the Roe v Wade court ruling. If this is true, we as a nation are going to have to repent or God may judge us very severely for this sin.

To the nations that are pressuring Israel to give up land for peace; if you want God to bless your own country, let Israel make their own decisions and defend their own country. In other word, chill out. Go away. God will bring peace to Israel and we are to pray for peace but giving up land for peace will not work. Who are we to tell Israel what to do anyway. I don't see the UN telling the United States to return any land to the Indians. I really cringe inside when the United States presidents all claim to support Israel but then start that land for peace stuff.

  • Isaiah 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.

This depicts the end of the present age. Heaven and earth shall be changed. Old things will pass away and all things will become new and without sin. We can be part of that New World under God. We can be part of that kingdom. We don't have to perish.

  • Isaiah 34:5 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.
  • 6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.

A reminder here to all war hawks. This comes to pass at the literal, physical coming of Jesus Christ. We are not to attempt to take it upon ourselves to bring judgment. We would get it wrong and end up killing the wrong people. This is Godís doing and must be left up to Him. The believers existing in the world today are to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. We are to go into the entire world and preach the gospel. We are not to harm a hair on anyoneís head. This doesnít mean that we canít fight in the army and defend our country against aggression but we are not to try to fulfill prophecy ourselves. That would be a mess indeed.

Idumea is Edom, the brother of Jacob. This pronouncement of judgment is upon Edom because of their persecution of Israel. Perhaps Edom, which was south of the Dead Sea, will be a people who side with the antichrist in the latter days against Israel. Whatever this means though it pictures judgment that comes upon the enemies of Israel.

  • Isaiah 34:7 And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
8 For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, and the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion.

We see God's vengeance and protection comes to His people. We need to get on the Lord's side and stay there. This is judgment that comes during and after the tribulation period.

  • Isaiah 34:9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
  • 10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
  • 11 But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.
  • 12 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.
  • 13 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls.
  • 14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.
  • 15 There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.

These verse describes the total judgment and destruction coming to the enemies of Israel during the battle of Armageddon at the coming of Jesus Christ.

  • Isaiah 34:16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.

This is good advice for all of us. If we want to escape all these things and stand before the Son of Man (Jesus Christ), we need to seek out the book of the Lord (the bible) and read. We do not have to be ignorant of these things. These days do not have to catch us unawares. We can be saved. Our salvation is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God sent to save all that believe.

Isaiah seems to be the Old Testament version of Revelation. Many of the same things are described in both books. Read and understand. We do not have to be lost. We can be saved. We do not have to fear these things, we can be at peace.

  • Isaiah 34:17 And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.

The ones who serve the Lord shall enter into the Holy Land and possess it forever. Many are trying to get Israel to give up their land for peace as I stated above. God will give it right back at the coming of Jesus Christ. He promised that land to them way back in the days of Abraham. Right now Israel does not know the Lord and they do not recognize Jesus Christ as their Messiah. During the tribulation period, this will change. They will look on Him whom they (their forefathers) have pierced. They will mourn and grieve that they did not see Him sooner. They will recognize their Lord and savior Jesus Christ. They will repent and be redeemed by the same blood He shed on the cross that saved those that believe already. Israel as a nation and those adopted into Israel (those that receive Jesus Christ as savior now) shall reign and rule with Christ in peace forever and no one shall be able to take that away from them again.
