Isaiah Chapter 60
This could be referring to none else but the 2nd coming of Christ and His reign upon the earth. No where in history has this happened as yet. We have had plenty of darkness covering the earth but no place has there yet been plenty of peace between Israel and the rest of the world. Enemies constantly surround them. They have been despised and mocked throughout the world, mistreated and shamed terribly. Christ is coming to deliver Israel from their enemies and rule and reign. Unfortunately a false shepherd arises first. This is where they will have to be careful not to follow the false shepherd. He does not come as an army from Heaven that every eye shall see. He will come as a deceiver and make a covenant with Israel but will break the covenant after 3 1/2 years. There will be a great tribulation. At the end of those 7 years, Jesus returns with those that were resurrected at the rapture of the believing Church 7 years previous. (Pre-trib rapture). Some hold to the teaching that it happens in the middle of the 7 years (mid trib) and some believe the church goes through all of it. (post trib). I hold with pre-trib myself. The reason for Israel's many sufferings has been because of their rejection of the true Messiah who visited them over 2000 years ago. Christ himself predicted the taking over of the land of Judah by the Roman army in 70 A D. They have been scattered and driven into other nations for hundreds of years and had no place of their own until the year 1948. Even since then they have had constant wars and battles to remain in existence. This will change during the reign of their true Messiah and Christ which is none other but Jesus Himself. Then this tiny despised nation will be the place in which the Lord rules the whole entire earth. They will no longer be a despised people but a respected people. The Gentile nations will come to their light. This despised Israel will one day be the most honored and respected nation in the entire earth.
Those still scattered at the coming of Christ shall be gathered to Israel in the latter days. Surrounding nations will bring into Israel gold, flocks, supplies, riches and many material substances. Gentiles shall come and be subject to them. There will be peace like never known before. Swords will be made into plows. Animals will not even hurt. There will be no war. Diseases will be gone. All believers and faithful followers of Jesus Christ will be with Him at this time reigning with Christ and resurrected if they were dead in Christ. This also is the final gathering which actually started in 1948 but they don't recognize Jesus as the Messiah until the 2nd coming of Christ when they will be gathered in full.
Even other nations will help in the re-gathering of Israel. They will bring the children of Israel back to their land.
Other kings and nations will help build the cities again. God smote Israel in their disobedience and rebellion. He allowed other nations to oppress them when they rejected their true Messiah but now His mercy has turned back to them and they are restored to a greater state than in the time of David and Solomon.
Other nations shall come and serve Israel.
All nations that do not serve this nation blessed of God will be destroyed.
Those that persecuted and oppressed Israel will one day bow themselves down at the soles of their feet. I didn't say this the bible says this.
The once hated and forsaken nation will be an eternal place of excellence and joy.
They will also know who the Lord is and will serve the Lord continually. They will have lasting peace and righteousness. I'm looking forward to this time.
Wow, no more violence. No bombs, no shootings, no destruction.
The Lord Himself shall bring light to the city. They will not need the sun or the moon. This is also prophesied in the book of Revelation close to the end.
No more night. Joy and happiness will prevail.
There will be no sin; all will be peace and righteousness. The land will be fruitful and there will be plenty for everyone. Such time of rejoicing this will be for Jews and Gentiles who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
