Job

Job Chapter 39

  • Job 39:1  Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
  • 2  Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
  • 3  They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
  • 4  Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.

Wild animals like the goats carry their young ones about 8 months then cast them out and do not really care for them. God alone is the one that watches over these little ones and knows where they are and how they are getting along. They are fed without the presence of the mother very early on. God created these hardy animals to survive alone.

  • Job 39:5  Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?
  • 6  Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.

God gives these animals something within that causes them to migrate to different places, to surive under many weather conditions and just make it supposedly on their own. Some birds migrate and leave their young behind. After a few weeks maybe only two, the young ones fly off to where their parents went. Creation is awesome to study about.

  • Job 39:7  He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.
  • 8  The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
  • 9  Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?

Wild animals like the zebras, goats and asses, like their freedom and would not like the cities where it is heavily populated with humans. This is why I do not care much for zoos where animals are penned up and can't move freely. There are some that provide plenty of room for them but I see them on display for us to see and feel sorry that they can't get out and run freely.

  • Job 39:10  Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?
  • 11  Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?
  • 12  Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?

Wild and free animals that man cannot tame cannot be put to a plow to plow the land like horses and oxen that are trained to work the farms. Some animals can be tamed by man but some cannot. God created so many different animals and gave them ways to surive by instinct. Marvelous is the creations of God.

  • Job 39:13  Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?
  • 14  Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,
  • 15  And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
  • 16  She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labour is in vain without fear;
  • 17  Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.

Yet in all this, the young somehow survive by the way they were created originally by the creator. Accident? No. No way can all creation be by accident. It would take more faith to believe all creation started with a big bang in outer darkness then to believe in a divine wonderful creator.

Men and women are made different. They were created to rule and make discisions. Can a dog drive an automobile and learn to read and write? Evolution by chance is so stupid, I can't imagine anyone coming up with a stupid idea like that. The birth of the young, the birth of a baby is a miracle only a divine creator could figure out. Two eyes, two ears, two arms, two legs, a digestive system and many other things all created by God. Marvelous is our God. We will all stand before Him one day to give an account of how we lived on earth. Animals will not face that kind of judgment because they live by instinct and not by divine order of knowning right from wrong.

  • Job 39:18  What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.

The Ostrich can fly away fast and lift itself high away from danger very quickly. A lot of animals have some kind of defense built into their system to keep themselves safe from prey. I wonder if that is why many animals have eyes on the sides of the face rather than in front like we have.

  • Job 39:19  Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
  • 20  Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.
  • 21  He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
  • 22  He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
  • 23  The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
  • 24  He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.
  • 25  He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

Horses are powerful animals that can race and run like the wind with no fear. In fact some run away quickly if they are afraid but they don't have to be afraid to be able to run with power, leaping over fences or any barriers in the way. Men have always used camels, donkeys and even elephants but horses are the most favored way of transportation before trains and automobiles were invented.

  • Job 39:26  Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?
  • 27  Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
  • 28  She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
  • 29  From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.
  • 30  Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.

Hawks and eagles are very swift and dangerous to chickens and small animals. They have good eyesight. Even if they don't succeed in getting their prey, they can do much damage to them causing their death. Many times chickens have to be penned in is such a way as to keep them safe from hawks. They can wipe out a whole barnyard of chickens. I like to buy eggs for chickens that are what they call free range because they soak up vitamin D but there has to be a way to protect them from the hawks that are swift and very fast.

I believe that before the fall of man when sin entered the world animals had other ways to be fed and they dwelled in safety. None would harm humans. I believe it will be that way again when all is finished and God creates a new heaven and earth. DC

  • Revelation 21:1  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
  • 2  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
  • 3  And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.  :
  • 4  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
  • 5  And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

There are other references to the new heaven and new earth:  2 Peter 3:10-13, Isaiah 65:17, Isaiah 66:22-24
