Psalm Chapter 8
To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A
Psalm of David.
Why is the Lord's name Excellent? By
His name comes salvation, by His name comes victory over sin, by His
name the sick are healed, by His name the dead are raised, by His
name is eternal life. How excellent is His name. This is enough to
cause us to praise Him continually.
- Psalm 8:2 Out of the mouth
of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of
thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the
avenger.
Prophecy fulfilled in the latter days.
-
Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus
answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and
earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and
prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
The young and innocent, unlearned
people, those not great in prominence and high esteem are babes.
Those not wise in the ways of the world are babes. Yet God has
revealed the plan of salvation, eternal life and much more to those
the world would consider as babes and unlearned.
- Matthew 21:15 And when
the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he
did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna
to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
- 16 And said
unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto
them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and
sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
Children were quick to praise and adore
the Messiah.
-
Psalm 8:3 When I consider thy
heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which
thou hast ordained;
When we actually take time to gaze upon
the creation, we can only wonder at how it was formed. I don't see
how one can ever believe in evolution just by looking at a tree.
Everything in creation is magnificent and perfect in every detail.
Unless creation is marred by disease or defect, it is perfect. Two
hands perfectly matched. Two eyes, two ears, one mouth, the birth of
a baby, all the different cells and genetic make up. We were
designed by a wise intelligent designer. The creation could not have
been an accident.
- Psalm
8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of
man, that thou visitest him?
- 5 For thou hast
made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him
with glory and honour.
- 6 Thou madest him
to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put
all things under his feet:
- 7 All sheep and
oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
- 8 The fowl of the
air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the
paths of the seas.
- 9 O LORD our Lord,
how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
This is a prophecy fulfilled in Jesus
Christ:
- Hebrews 2:6 But one in
a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art
mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
- 7 Thou madest
him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with
glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy
hands:
- 8 Thou hast put
all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all
in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under
him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
- 9 But we see
Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the
suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by
the grace of God should taste death for every man.
- 10 For it became
him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in
bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their
salvation perfect through sufferings.
We see here that the name given among
men whereby they must be saved is the very name of Jesus our Christ.
Psalm 8 foretells children praising the Lord Jesus Christ and the
whole coming of Christ the 1st time and the Second time.
Christ was:
- Made lower than angels for a short
season to suffer death for our sins.
- Crowned with honor and glory
- All things made under the
subjection of Christ
- This was done to perfect salvation
to all who will accept this way.
