Psalm Chapter 106
- Psalm 106:1 Praise ye the
LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy
endureth for ever.
- 2 Who can utter
the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?
God's mercy is what saves us from sin and
grants us eternal life. This should be cause to praise Him
continually. God is worthy of all our praises.
Blessed means to be happy and favored of God.
Keeping judgment means to deal fairly and honestly. To be righteous
is to acknowledge God's law and keep them within our innermost being. God in His
mercy has provided a savior and the Holy Spirit to enable us to live
in righteousness. Jesus Christ is that savior. Without Jesus
bringing to us forgiveness of sins, we have no power over sin. God's
mercy sent Jesus to us. His love abounds through us when we accept
this free gift of God. To reject it is to cut ourselves off from
salvation, eternal life and the indwelling Holy Spirit that God
freely gives to those to ask and receive.
This prayer was answered in the sending of
Jesus to save from sin. Jesus brings salvation.
- Psalm 106:5 That I may see
the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of
thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
- 6 We have sinned
with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done
wickedly.
All have sinned and are in need of a savior
to be made free from sin. Israel was given the first access to
salvation from sin. The promise of the Messiah was sent first to
Israel.
Unbelief caused Israel to begin to doubt God
and forget His mercies. Unbelief is the biggest hindrance to
salvation today also. Faith is what opens the door to God. Faith
recognizes that we have sinned, that we need a savior, that Jesus is
that savior, and that we need Jesus. God sent Jesus, Jesus died for
our sins, and Jesus brings us salvation. We who believe will be
resurrected as Jesus was resurrected.
-
Hebrews 11:6 But without
faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God
must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek him.
-
Psalm 106:8 Nevertheless he saved
them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to
be known.
God remembered His promise to Abraham. God
remembered the millions who will believe and be saved, both Jews and
Gentiles.
- Psalm 106:9 He rebuked the
Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the
depths, as through the wilderness.
- 10 And he saved
them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them
from the hand of the enemy.
- 11 And the waters
covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
All that pursue after God's chosen people
will suffer the same fate eventually.
- Psalm 106:12 Then believed
they his words; they sang his praise.
- 13 They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
This is our example to learn from. When the
first sign of temptation or trouble came, they started doubting God.
This can happen now to try our faith to see if we believe. We must
trust God in good times as well as in the bad times. It's not always
a life of ease to be a Christian. Through faith in Christ though we
can have peace and joy in the middle of trouble.
-
Psalm 106:14 But lusted exceedingly
in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
-
Hebrews 13:5 Let your
conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such
things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee,
nor forsake thee.
- Psalm 106:15 And he gave
them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
16 They
envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.
A big temptation is to start to envy those
that God sets over us in the Lord. Rebellion hinders others and
stirs up trouble. If we find ourselves questioning a
spiritual leader, seek God in prayer until He shows what is to be
done instead of going to others with murmuring and complaining which
stirs up rebellion.
- Psalm 106:17 The earth
opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of
Abiram.
- 18 And a fire was
kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
- 19 They made a
calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
- 20 Thus they
changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth
grass.
- 21 They forgat God
their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
- 22 Wondrous works
in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.
Miracles are easily forgotten. It is good to
see miracles but we need the word of God in our hearts so that when
the miracles cease, our faith still stands.
-
Psalm 106:23 Therefore he said that
he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him
in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy
them.
Unbelief grieves the heart of God. When God
has given so much and we turn around and show forth unbelief, it
grieves Him.
Do you ever wonder how God feels about us in
the United States? We have had so much here. God blessed this nation
and we are the strongest in the world. Yet look at us. We forbid the
holy bible in the public schools, we teach evolution instead of
God's creation, We allow the unborn to be murdered before they are
born, we take down the 10 commandments off the walls of our
courthouses, we forbid prayer in schools and misread the
constitution and claim it forbids God when it does not. If we
continue down this path, we will not have this great nation anymore.
You can count on that. The economy will probably be first to go.
We must learn by the example of Israel in the
Old Testament. Every time Israel forgot God and began to copy the
nations around them, the very nations they copied, enslaved them and
God allowed it because they turned away from Him. God will not
protect if He is rejected and His word is ignored.
- Psalm 106:24 Yea, they
despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:
- 25 But murmured in
their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
We have to be careful of murmuring and
complaining.
- Psalm 106:26 Therefore he
lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the
wilderness:
- 27 To overthrow
their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the
lands.
- 28 They joined
themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the
dead.
- 29 Thus they
provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague
brake in upon them.
- 30 Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
- 31 And that was
counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for
evermore.
- 32 They angered
him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses
for their sakes:
- 33 Because they
provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
- 34 They did not
destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
- 35 But were
mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
The works of the heathen were evil. They not
only worshipped idols but sacrificed children to them. God wanted
Israel to get rid of them because that sin had to be stopped. Israel
began to partake and copy after those that they allowed to stay
among them.
We live in a different time now and we are to
preach the gospel under the power of the Holy Spirit to get rid of
sin. Now we are under the commandment to save the lost, not
physically destroy them. If they reject God's way of salvation by
rejecting Jesus Christ, God Himself will bring judgment. We are not
to do it. We are living in the day of God's mercy after He sent
Jesus to save the lost. That day will close when the gospel is
preached to the whole world. When people finally reject the gospel
and persecute those that bring the gospel, we will see judgment come
and the time of the Gentiles come to an end.
God allows a nation to sin but
eventually He judges them when they go too far. That is why we need
to fear God and listen to what He has to say. This is given to us
through the bible. I personally like the King James Version which I
believe to be the closest to the truth. There may be other good
versions but I don't feel the same about the ones I've seen so far
so I stick to the one I trust. Nevertheless, we need this word in
our hearts so that we will not desire to sin against God. I
know good people of faith that use other versions, so I'm not being
judgmental about that subject.
Idolatry is serious because it tells God that
we reject Him and instead choose an empty god with no promise of
eternal salvation. I believe also that demon spirits are present at
idol worship so that people are deceived into thinking these things
are real gods.
Why would people prefer idols? It may be
because they can still sin and be religious. It may be because they
want something they can see and do not want to live by faith. It may
also be that they rejected the real God so much that their minds
have been given over to a reprobate state. The less we desire God,
the more our minds will accept sin as normal.
- Romans 1:28 And even
as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave
them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not
convenient;
- 29 Being filled
with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness,
maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity;
whisperers,
- 30 Backbiters,
haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil
things, disobedient to parents,
- 31 Without
understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection,
implacable, unmerciful:
- 32 Who knowing
the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are
worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them
that do them.
We have to be really far gone and really
reprobate in the mind to harm our own children either before or
after they are born.
- Psalm 106:37 Yea, they
sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
- 38 And shed
innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their
daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and
the land was polluted with blood.
We see what happens when they forgot their
creator. They killed their own children. Are we in the United States any
different when we allow the killing of unborn babies? Are we not
sacrificing our children to devils by killing them because it is not
convenient for us to have them? Sadly, since I first wrote these
bible studies some states now have the right to allow a baby born
alive to be left to die if the mother does not want the child.
The teaching of evolution is dangerous
because it teaches us that we are no different than the animals
instead of being made in the image of God. Since we are not in His
image and are just evolved beings, then killing the unborn seems
justified. Killing the elderly and mentally retarded will come next.
We have to STOP killing the little innocent babies.
Believing in a divine creation though brings
us a respect for life and a fear of God.
- Psalm 106:39 Thus were they
defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own
inventions.
- 40 Therefore was
the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that
he abhorred his own inheritance.
- 41 And he gave
them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them
ruled over them.
This will happen here if we don't repent and
turn back to God.
- Psalm 106:42 Their enemies
also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under
their hand.
- 43 Many times did
he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and
were brought low for their iniquity.
When God gives us so much, gave us His word,
gave us salvation by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and we turn our
backs on that, our own works will bring judgment upon us. All God
has to do is withdraw His hand of protection and we are destroyed.
He doesn't have to send judgment, just withdraw His protection. See
what danger Canada, Sweden, England, the United States and others
are in now. We are biting the hand that has fed us and made us
great. The right kill an unborn child is considered liberty. It is a
woman's right to choose. This is not liberty, it is bondage to sin,
selfishness and laziness.
- Psalm 106:44 Nevertheless he
regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
- 45 And he
remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the
multitude of his mercies.
- 46 He made them
also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.
- 47 Save us, O LORD
our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks
unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.
- 48 Blessed be the
LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all
the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.
This last verse is reminding us that God is
not done with Israel. They shall be gathered back to God in the
latter days and become a great nation. In fact that part has already
happened. We can be partakers in the
glory of Israel if we trust in God and not reject Jesus Christ.
Right now I see trouble ahead for the United States because we have
allowed the anti God bullies to torment us and bully us into casting
God out of our schools. As a result we are seeing a generation of
children who know not God.
Some will go through a future
tribulation and they will discover that the Messiah they have
rejected is the very Jesus Christ that was crucified. Many, whether Jew or Gentile that are trying to silence the gospel of
Jesus will suffer judgment. To deny God and teach evolution is the
sin that will result in chaos and confusion in every nation that
embraces this teaching. When lawlessness abounds, it opens the door
to a dictator to bring order. The next dictator just may be the
antichrist who will appear temporarily to pretend to bring peace.
Don't be fooled by him. Jesus will come after Him and Jesus is the
true prince of peace.
- Matthew 24:22 And
except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be
saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
- 23 Then if any
man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it
not.
- 24 For there
shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew
great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible,
they shall deceive the very elect.
- 25
Behold, I have told you before.
- 26 Wherefore if
they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not
forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
- 27 For as the
lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the
west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Even so come Lord Jesus, please come. We need you to return. Blessed by the Name of the Lord. DC
