Psalm Chapter 111

Psalm 111:1 Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.

This shows us that praising the Lord is to be encouraged in the congregation of believers. Pubic singing and praise is a vital part of worship.

Psalm 111:2 The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.

If we take time to open our eyes, we can see the works of the Lord. It is only hidden by unbelief.

Psalm 111:3 His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.

If it wasn't for God's compassion, none of us to make Heaven our home. His compassion is what caused God to see our lost condition and send us a savior to save us from sin in order that we may inherit eternal life and not be doomed to hell. Remember the soul does not die when our body dies. It has to go somewhere. Since sin cannot enter heaven, the soul which has sin within it at the point of death cannot enter heaven. Souls do not float around the earth with no place of rest so the soul that sins has to enter hell.

Hell is a place for departed souls; souls that has left the body. It was prepared for the devil and the devil's angels. When we die if we have not received Jesus Christ and His redemption from sin, we will go where the devil is going for that is where sin will remain for eternity so that it will not remain forever.

Jesus came to free individuals from sin but also to free the whole world from sin. In the New Heaven and New Earth which God is preparing for those that love Him, there will be no sin. God made a perfect way for us to be forgiven of sin and free from sin. He sent Jesus to die in our place suffering for our sins. The just died for the unjust. He didn't deserve to die because He did not sin or break the law of God in any point.

We have broken God's law at one time or another. We are born into sin. Unless we are children below the age of accountability, we will go to hell when we die. That is unless our sins are covered by the blood of Jesus. All we have to do is believe this and His death can count on our behalf. Since Jesus was also raised from the dead, we also who believe in Him will rise from the dead and receive a new body than can never die.

On the day of resurrection our soul in heaven will unite with our body that rises in a new state from the grave. This does not leave out those that are cremated although cremation is a heathen practice and I do not believe in it myself. Those that are in hell are resurrected 1000 years later to face the judgment for all the sins they committed in their lifetime. Without the blood of Jesus covering their sins, their sins will be open before all to see. This is why it is so important for us to receive Jesus while we are still living. It is the only way to be saved from sin. If we neglect to do this, we will die in our sin.

Psalm 111:5 He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

God will take care of those that believe and walk with Him.

Psalm 111:6 He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen.

The heathen or those that reject God, will one day lose everything. The redeemed of the Lord will rule the earth. We must remember though that this is yet future after Jesus the Christ visibly returns to set up His kingdom. We are not to assume all the worldly possessions and riches are ours for the taking. That is opposite of what Jesus Himself taught. We are not to covet houses, lands and possessions in this life. We are not to envy the rich and want what they have. We are not to love the world but seek treasure in heaven.

Psalm 111:7 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure.

God did not have the commandments made and written for us to ignore. They show us what sin is and how we are in need of a savior from sin. The power of the Holy Spirit which comes to us when we are born again by our faith in Jesus Christ and He will put God's law in our hearts so that we keep the commandments not by our own will power but by the power of God. We still have a freewill to choose but the power is there to choose right things.

Psalm 111:8 They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.
9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.

He sent redemption to His people. That redemption came by Jesus Christ, the prophet that God raised up to save us from sin. Moses wrote of this prophet.

Deuteronomy 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

We think that we can go to the best university in the world and get wisdom. No way. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Just the beginning. There is so much more to learn. Man's wisdom is false and usually is proven false sooner or later. True wisdom comes from God. If we neglect God, our wisdom is vain and will prophet nothing. In fact the bible says a person without God in their knowledge will be turned over to a reprobate mind. Why do you think someone can be silly enough to believe the theory of evolution? Their minds are reprobate and they are believing a lie.

Evolution is virtually impossible and is not a proven fact.

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

This almost always works with me. If I am seeking to understand something and I trust God to enlighten me, He will. Sometimes God will use a bible teacher or the pastor and sometimes the wisdom will come to me while I'm in prayer but God has answered my prayers for wisdom and He will answer those kind of prayers if a person truly believes and desires God to give Him wisdom.

One event was when I was troubled about how to confront someone who was living in sin without driving them away from receiving Jesus. That very night on a Wednesday evening something came up where a person responded to something being taught and began to defend her position on it. The teacher in a way that surely was with wisdom did not back down but confronted the sin but in a way that showed love and a gentile spirit. He used scripture after scripture and encouraged the lady to find them and read them herself to prove the point he was making. He did not do this in a holier than thou attitude or in a way that made the person feel that we were ganging up on her but by love, meekness and yet with determination, he showed her that what she was defending was actual sin.

The thing that was incredible about this whole incident was that none of us knew the person was living in sin until she admitted it herself. When I was praying earlier in the day, I did not think someone in my own church was living in sin but was seeking God for understanding if that event did happen. He showed us clearly that we were not to gloss over sin and pretend that a person can be saved and still live in sin but that there was a right way to deal with it so that we show love not for the sin but in spite of the sin. True love is to tell the truth. If we overlook things just to make someone feel good about themselves and they die in sin and are lost, that is not showing true love. DC
