Leviticus Chapter 18
It is strange that God had to keep reminding Israel that He was their God and not the gods of other nations around about them. He was the one who delivered them from bondage in Egypt and gave them a land flowing with milk and honey. Have we forgotten who the Lord is today? Have we forgotten to include God in our lives?
They were not to go back to Egypt in their hearts but serve only the Lord and follow His ordinances. They were not to observe the ordinances and gods of Egypt. The plagues sent upon Egypt was judgment upon all their various gods. False gods, false religion and such will steal, kill and destroy the good that God wants to do within those that believe. Satan is out to steal, kill and destroy our very souls. Only God's perfect way will save our souls and eventually grant us eternal life with joy and peace forever. True peace will never be accomplished here on earth during any reign of man. It can't be done. Those that strive for peace in the Middle East are wasting their time. It will not be done. We can work to try to make people get along but until every heart has repented from sin and every soul united back to God through faith in Jesus Christ, there will be no peace. Individual hearts have to be changed from the inside out. Religion that is only outward and makes no change in the spirit of man cannot bring peace. That is why God sent forth His Son into the world to make an atonement for sin. Sin cannot be removed from an individual until he or she recognized that they have sinned and that they need to be saved from sin. When they believe that Jesus Christ came to save them from sin, they can then be cleansed from sin and receive the Holy Spirit. We must be born of the Spirit of God to make heaven. Until everyone is born again by God's spirit, there will be no peace. This type of conversion is not one that we can force on people. Only God can change the inner man from being a sinner to a saint.
They were not just to teach the law but to keep the law. Now under the grace of Jesus Christ power is given to overcome sin and have the law written upon our hearts. We now can live for God because we love God.
In this day of much lack of modesty we have forgotten the importance of dressing in a manner that is becoming to a child of God and not the world. Many of us look and act just like those that are in the world and no one can tell the difference at least in our outward appearance. If we try to correct this, we are called legalistic. While it is true that outward religion of any kind can be legalistic, we need to study the scriptures on modesty found in the New Testament and see if we are conforming to the world or to Christ in our manner of dress. This is not to make us "more saved" but to make us an example to those that are watching our conversation in Jesus Christ.
To keep disease and sin under control, they were not to lie with relatives or even to look upon them when they were not clothed. That is why it is uncommon for most of us who grew up around Christian people to see this kind of stuff going on. It is foreign to us or it should be.
Had this law been written in the time of Jacob, he would not have been allowed to have sisters for wives. Had Solomon heeded the law which was written for him to read, he would not have spent his last days before he died out of fellowship with God.
When a woman is having an issue of blood like she has every month, she is not to have sexual relations with anyone. This was a law of cleanliness.
Adultery and fornication are forbidden. This laws also repeated in the New Testament and applies to the church as will as Israel. It is still just as much a sin as it was in the days of Israel. We see this in Matthew chapters 5 and 19, Mark 10, Luke 16, 18, Romans 13, Galatians 5, James 2, 2 Peter 2 and Revelation 2. Fornication is in Acts 15, Romans 1, 1 Corinthians 5, 6, 7, 10 and 2 Corinthians 12, Galatians 5, Ephesians 5, Colossians 3, 1 Thessalonians 4:3, Jude, and Revelations 2, 9, 14, 17, 18, 19. Some of these scriptures are speaking of spiritual fornication which is idolatry. We need to return to old fashioned holiness preaching. Our fear of legalism has dampened our message of holiness. That old pendulum either swings one way or the other. We tend to either be legalistic and forget mercy and compassion or we get too lovey dovey that we do not warn against sin. Actually that is not real love. God loves us enough to warn and correct. Love is not just patting someone on the back and saying, "I love you."
This is fornication that is associated with idolatry and false gods. Idolatry itself is spiritual fornication against our Holy God but most idolatry and false religion will have literal fornication associated with it. Temple prostitutes and fornication usually accompanies any false religion. Even some so-called Christian religions, if they get off in their doctrine and are not following the Lord in Spirit and in truth, they usually get into sexual perversion, multiple wives, or other types of fornication including adultery. I'm not speaking of a difference of opinion on the rapture, when Jesus comes and things of that nature but serious doctrines that deny the deity of Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit or true salvation through faith in Christ. Religious works and commandments of men cannot save anyone's soul. That is the doctrines I'm warning against.
This is warned against in both the Old and New Testaments. Most of God's laws, warnings and decrees are given to help us, not to harm us. It may not be politically correct to say it but it will shorten the life span and increases the likelihood of serious death causing disease. It brings mental confusion to the mind. It is not hateful to warn about what happens to us as humans if we go against what God creates. If we care about and love people we will gently warn, not ever hate the person. God never gives a commandment without giving us the grace, strength and power to overcome the sin that is separating us from Him and causing us to be in danger of losing our souls for eternity. Jesus is the way out of any sin. Romans 1 speaks of this along with the scriptures on fornication.
Bestiality is confusion to both humans and the animals. This is a serious abomination in the sight of God.
This is why God cast out the other nations that we read about in the Old Testament. This will cause God's judgment again when nations do these things without repenting. It is going to come again. People can pass hate crimes laws and forbid us to speak but that does not change God's mind. He is not afraid of our Congress or our Supreme Court. If every single person who speaks against these types of sin is put to death, it does not change God's mind on this subject. Unless we repent of these things, we will perish spiritually. We will die without God and we will go to a literal hell for eternity. Many sins will pollute the land with disease and cause confusion and every evil work imaginable. God will judge all nations in the future if we do not repent. The great and mighty USA will be destroyed if we do not repent of defying the word of God. Abortion and fornication will be judged. One is murder and the other is sin against the very creation of God. We will be judged if we don't stop. Concerning abortion; what started out as terminating a pregnancy in the first month or two has actually come to aborting the child up until just before the time of birth. And sadly some have killed them after they were born live. Workers in clinics and witnesses have verified this.
This is what is going to happen to my own country. Whatever nation gives itself over to these abominations will lose the favor of God and they will perish if they do not repent. Only national repentance can possibly save us.
This is the part of the Old law that still is in effect. Jesus fulfilled the ceremonial and sacrificial system of the law but the moral law is repeated in the New Testament. As a nation we will suffer the consequences for breaking these laws that God gave. The blood of Jesus can cleanse individuals from these things so that they can escape God's wrath and have eternal life but as a nation we must not only recognize we have sinned against God but we must repent as a nation in order to avoid the judgment of God coming upon us as a nation. We cannot call ourselves a nation under God if we continue to allow abortion and fornication which is defiling our country, bringing disease and destroying our social security system. All those babies aborted are not working and paying into social security. Actually God doesn't have to send fire and brimstone, all He has to do is wait and see us destroy ourselves. Yet God does not want this. He is out for our salvation and our good. A nation that fears God and works to feed its poor is a nation that God will bless. We can be that kind of nation again but we must repent. Repent means to turn around, change and run back to God. DC
